I believe, but in the corner of my mind
There is a shadow of uneasiness
“Where the hell were you?”
One of your friends raced towards you and tightly embraced you. You were almost knocked down from the impact. The rest of your friends swarmed around you, bombarding you with ridiculous questions that you could barely make out.
Getting everyone to quiet down was a hassle, but you somehow managed to do it.
You closed your eyes and took a deep breath, concentrating on the quietness. Sweet quietness from your friends for once-
Your eyes shot open.
The quiet room that you were rejoicing in was replaced by one that was filled with whispering. It didn’t take long to figure out why. After all, it happened every day.
You glanced at Ivan. But that glance soon turned into a stare. The pleading expression on his face caught your attention. When Ivan was sure he got your attention, he glanced at your friends so quickly that you weren’t sure if you saw it. Then he shook his head, the pleading expression on his face still visible.
You had no idea what that meant. He was begging you to do something, you knew that, but you didn’t know what it was.
“What the hell is he doing?” you heard one of your friends whisper.
Ivan made his way out of the halls, disappearing from sight. The whispering stopped and everyone went back to what they were doing as if nothing happened.
“So ________? Where were you yesterday?” This time a different, more polite friend asked the question.
That was when you realized what Ivan meant. You knew now what he was begging you to do…or what he was begging you not to do.
He didn’t want you to tell them that you were hanging out with him.
“Well?” They asked.
“Oh, sorry. Yesterday I had to leave early for a doctor’s appointment.”
They stared at you, slightly disappointed. “Oh.” They smiled at you and patted you back. “That’s cool.”
The bell rang.
~~~~
“Hey Ivan,” you greeted him as you pushed open the exit door.
He sat in his usual spot. “Hi _______.”
You were relieved when you saw a sandwich in his hands. This time he had lunch.
You sat down next to him, reaching into your paper bag to grab a bag of potato chips. You offered some to him and he smiled as he grabbed a few out of the bag.
There was a question that has been haunting your self conscience today. A question that has been eating away at you, that you couldn’t figure out. You needed to ask Ivan, but you didn’t know when to bring it up.
After Ivan finished his food, you finally decided to bring it up. “Hey Ivan?”
He turned his head towards you, “Yes?”
After a long silence, you spoke, “I was wondering, well, why didn’t you want me to tell my friends that I was hanging out with you?”
The happy, cheerful look in his eyes now turned into sadness. He stared at the ground, his hair now hiding his face.
“You didn’t tell them right?” he murmured.
“Oh course not,” you said gently. “I just want to know why you didn’t want me to tell them.”
Everything was silent for a while. Ivan stayed in his hunched over position while you watched him, chills running down your spine. Why didn’t he say anything? Was it that bad?
You decided to stop waiting for him to respond. Maybe it was good that you didn’t know. You slowly lifted your hand and patted his back. In a soothing voice, you said “It’s ok Ivan. You don’t have to tell me.”
He lifted his head, staring at you with wide eyes. Then he closed his eyes, forcing a smile.
Don’t Hurt Me Anymore
Reader’s POV
I love the warmth of having someone there. I think that’s why I put myself into these situations. I don’t want to be alone. Not anymore. That’s why it’s so hard to leave. That’s why I listen and do as the say. That’s why I can’t say no. Cause they’ll leave. I don’t want any of it but I have to if I want them to stay.
I stared at my boyfriend as he stared at me with lustful eyes. “Come on baby! It’ll be fun! Please?” He started to feel up my thigh. I shook my head no. “Why do I even date you? You don&rsq
(Reader POV)
-IVAN! – [f/n] cried, the blizzard swallowing her voice at the moment it came out of her lips. She couldn’t see much, and she was slowly getting more and more desperate. It was going to be night time soon. And she knew that the militar training she went through was a poorly made joke when facing a snowstorm, with a low amount of supplies, plus a wounded person. The last part was only going to be a problem if she found Ivan. And she had to do it. Fast.
-IVAN! – She called again, before tripping into something. What?
[f/n] looked down, the thing she first thought it was a
Staring…just staring.
At nothing really. Or maybe something. Just sort of staring at the bottom of a shot glass through the amber liquid filling it. It’s not like Ivan had anything better to do.
His sad violet eyes kept searching the vodka before him and then gripped the shot glass and downed the whole of it. It stung, but only for a moment. He was well accustomed to the strong burn of vodka. Ivan shook his pale head, and as
