You feel so lonely and ragged
You lay here broken and naked
My love is
Just waiting
To clothe you in crimson roses
I will be the one that’s gonna find you
I will be the one that’s gonna guide you
My love is
A burning, consuming fire
No
You’ll never be alone
When darkness comes I’ll light the night with stars
Hear the whispers in the dark
“I found you Ivan!” you giggled, running up to Ivan and wrapping your arms around him.
He laughed, returning the embrace, closing his eyes and smiling, making his usual smile.
It was a smile, indeed, but it was fake. Underneath his eyelids were eyes drowned in sadness and loneliness.
~~~
“________,” he whispered, leaning in to kiss your lips. Your hands wrapped around your boyfriend’s neck as your legs straddled his waist.
You pressed your lips against his, and he pulled you closer as he held your waist. Your friends watched, cheering as if this was a football game.
He picked you up bridal style and carried you out the room as your friends watched, smirking in entertainment as inquisitive thoughts filled their heads.
Halfway into the halls was when he finally put you down. You smiled at him and embraced him, saying your thanks before locking your eyes on a familiar door. You both exchanged glances one last time, waving at him as you ran swiftly, opening the door and disappearing from sight.
Your boyfriend continued to stare at the door, a hint of jealousy present in his eyes.
~~~
For the past two weeks, you’ve been able to hang out with Ivan without any worries. Your boyfriend was a big help in keeping your friendship with Ivan a secret, and you were thankful. Without his help, you wouldn’t be able to help and hang out with Ivan. Yet, helping him was simple. All you needed to do was spend time with him, be his friend. He was alone, lonesome, and that prominent look of loneliness in his eyes couldn’t tell you otherwise. You wanted so much for that to leave, disappear from his eyes and to never return. But you knew that you couldn’t just snap your fingers and make it happen. It needed time.
“Hey Ivan?”
All of his attention was now directed towards you. “Yes?”
You looked up at him, “I want to show you a place.”
He tilted his head curiously, “Where is it?”
“I’m not telling you yet!” you joked.
He smiled, “Well ok.” He glanced up at the sky. The sun was setting. He looked back at you with unsure eyes, “But it’s getting late.”
“That’s the point!” you laughed. “Come on!” You grabbed his hand and started running, pulling the blushing Russian along with you.
~~~
By the time you reached your destination, the sun had set. Whatever sunlight that had once lit up the sky was gone.
Your arms were wrapped loosely around Ivan’s neck as he held carried you on his back. Along the way, you had used up all of your energy and you couldn’t walk anymore. Ivan had to carry you the rest of the way, and in return, you guided him on the journey.
But all the hard work was worth it. You both were now in a lush meadow with daisies sprouted in between the tall grass. The air was cool and fresh, which was different from back home, where everything smelled like fuel from factories and cars, and whenever there was a soft breeze, the smell of freshness was stronger, more prominent.
Ivan put you down gently, and you fell onto the grass. He collapsed next you soon after, closing his eyes, worn from the trip. And as soon as he opened his eyes, he swore he would never close them.
Tiny bright stars were painted across the dark sky. There was a vast amount of them; you wouldn’t be able to count them all if you tried. They formed all sorts of shapes and patterns, acting like brushes, painting whatever its artist wanted on the canvas of the sky. A scene like this never appeared back at home, where lights always emitted in every corner of town, blocking out the natural breathtaking light of the stars. They were simply stunning…stunningly beautiful.
“You like the view?” You smiled, staring at the astonishment that was prominent on Ivan’s face.
Ivan nodded, continuing to stare up at the sky.
You closed your eyes, “Ever since the-” You stopped. You didn’t want to tell him about the accident. It was a secret that you intended to keep as few people from knowing as possible.
“Sometimes I have some trouble at home,” you started again. “On nights that are unbearable, I come down here and spend the night here, watching the stars. They comfort me and help me forget my problems.” Your mom had grown despondent since the accident, and with nightmares at night and unpredictable flashes of the catastrophe, you needed to escape and find comfort. The stars proved to be your best option.
Ivan snapped out of his gaze and stared at you. You thought you saw that same sadness from the day he asked you to keep your friendship with him a secret. But that sadness was nowhere to be seen in his eyes anymore, so you brushed it off.
“We should both come here to stare at the stars more often. They will comfort us both and make us happy,” he smiled.
And for the first time in years, Ivan smiled a smile that was truly happy.
Don’t Hurt Me Anymore
Reader’s POV
I love the warmth of having someone there. I think that’s why I put myself into these situations. I don’t want to be alone. Not anymore. That’s why it’s so hard to leave. That’s why I listen and do as the say. That’s why I can’t say no. Cause they’ll leave. I don’t want any of it but I have to if I want them to stay.
I stared at my boyfriend as he stared at me with lustful eyes. “Come on baby! It’ll be fun! Please?” He started to feel up my thigh. I shook my head no. “Why do I even date you? You don&rsq
Staring…just staring.
At nothing really. Or maybe something. Just sort of staring at the bottom of a shot glass through the amber liquid filling it. It’s not like Ivan had anything better to do.
His sad violet eyes kept searching the vodka before him and then gripped the shot glass and downed the whole of it. It stung, but only for a moment. He was well accustomed to the strong burn of vodka. Ivan shook his pale head, and as
Ivan sat quietly on his porch steps, smelling the calm and refreshing air. He had been at the meeting room for so long he'd begun to wonder if he were loosing his sences. He carefully studied a lovely little flower growing between the crack of a nearby sidewalk. It had nice purple petals, however they were shut due to lack of moisture. He wondered if he should help it, but then again, it was just a normal flower.
His mind then wandered off, thinking about how everyone was a simple flower, trying to grow tallest in the garden known as earth. Some grew taller than others, but it didn't block out the sun. He let out a little sigh, unt
It's my friend's birthday today and she really wanted me to publish the next chapter, otherwise she would kill me. She said it herself! And there were some other people that wanted me to post the next chapter soon, so that also motivated me. Enjoy!
